Design Board: A Red and Blue Beachy Living Room

Lovely Sarah at Pewter and Sage hosts a mood board linky party that I always want to join and never get my arse in gear quick enough to do so. But not so this month!

There were a selection of fabric pairings to choose from as inspiration, but I picked these two from John Robshaw Textiles:

I’d use both fabrics as throw pillows and the darker one as drapes as well. I’ve been itching to design a beach house, so this was a great excuse! Here’s where I went with it – a coastal red and blue living space…

Round mirror – West Elm (no longer available)
Ikat bowl – unknown
Media console – Zinc Door
Lamp on console – Zinc Door
Long mirror – River Mirrors
Pendant – Home Decorators
Navy fabric – Bagru Indigo by John Robshaw
Shelves – ABC Home
Burlap lamp shade – Lamps Plus
Red lamp base – Quality Bath
Steamer trunks – Candelabra
Chest – Pottery Barn
Rug – Zinc Door
Sofa – Macy’s
Light blue pillow fabric – Twine Light Indigo by John Robshaw
Chair – Overstock
Pillow (on chair) – Zinc Door
Paint color – Celestia Blue by Benjamin Moore

I love navy – it looks great with almost every color. I love the stacked suitcases. You did a beautiful job! I haven't been over to see Sarah in a while. Adding that to my to do list. It's so good to "see" you too, Lizzie! Hope all is well! Have a great week!

Perfect choice of fabrics for a beach house and the pop of red adds a nod of nautical. Sophisticated, yet fun and not too themed, LOVE!

Yay, Lizzie!!! I'm so glad you made it to the party!! Thanks so much for really pushing to "get your arse in gear" this time, lol:) Love your beachy living room. Too funny that we both chose the blue JR fabrics and brought in a pop of a warm red tone. This palette is so striking! I am loving that industrial rolling shelf and the PB chest used as a coffee table…of course I pick the two no longer available things;) I love the color and pattern of the geometric rug, it would make all that blue and white stuff just pop. I love the feel of this room…you were able to achieve the kind of living/sitting space that I wanted to but wasn't getting, that's why I switched rooms. Way to go!! Thanks again for taking the time to play:)

Lizzie- this is a great room! I love the blue and red together and I love how that art ties the whole room together! The long mirror is so rustic and gorgeous!!
