Mood Board | A Cosy & Feminine Living Room

I’m picturing this cosy and feminine room design as the compact living area of a new grad’s first apartment. It’s small scale, budget friendly, cheery and young.

Feminine Living Room Design Mood Board with Gold Bean Bag

Paint – Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore
Print – Minted // Table Lamp – Zinc Door // Side Table – Target
Sofa – CB2 // Floor Lamp – Made // Rug – Target
Bean Bag Chair – Bean Bag Boss // Plant basket – Ikea

Every piece pictured in this girly living room mood board is from a big box/high street retailer, with one exception. The brass table lamp would be inspo for an antique shop or eBay find, because even a brand new space needs something vintage to add a bit of character.

Space underneath the gorgeous coral settee give the illusion of more floor space in a small room, while an air-purifying Snake Plant adds some greenery. These guys are particularly hard to kill, so they’re great for busy (or black thumbed) owners.

The gold bean bag is pretty outrageous. It’s an affordable piece of extra seating, and as a bonus, it’s a bit of a conversation starter. (Do you love it or hate it? I’m not sure I can decide! 😂)

Flat-woven rugs don’t always have the longest life, but they’re affordable enough that you can buy one big enough to pack a visual punch. Never go too small on the rug, otherwise your whole space can feel a bit “off.”

Finally, dark walls in rich navy keep the space bold but cosy, and showcase a large print, which serves as a focal point for the whole design.

Maybe this cosy, feminine mood board fills one end of a studio flat, or maybe it’s a little living room of its own. Either way, it’s a sweet, fun place for lounging and entertaining after the daily grind.

Hi Lizzie, love this girly living room! I actually just painted our armoire in Hale Navy and love the color! I'm also starting to see more flowers in the design world, so I think your spot on trend! Thanks for sharing 🙂
