August Inspiration Board Challenge: A Lavender & Emerald Living Room

Last month I joined a group of bloggers in a monthly inspiration design board challenge. We each create a design board based on the same inspiration photo, and it’s so fun to see all the different takes on it. This month, Jessica chose this pretty starting point:
I decided to do a very renter-friendly living room – white walls with lavender accents and, mainly because I freaking love this sofa, a big splash of emerald green.
Oil Painting – Alice Neave // Fabric (for curtains) – John Robshaw
Pillows – Caitlin Wilson // Side Table – Target // Chair – Ballard Designs
Sofa – Ikea // Ottoman – Anthropologie // Rug – Rugs USA
Paint: Farror & Ball Wimbourne White

I’ve just been itching to use that sofa in a design board since I saw it in the new Ikea catalog. The cowhide Anthropologie ottoman makes my heart flutter too – it’s not available anymore but I would have snapped it up in a heartbeat had I not been convinced my kids would smear blueberries on it within seconds.

I love what the other ladies came up with this month – lots of very pretty inspiration. Check it out…

I of course still have baby on my mind {it’s a little all encompassing don’t ya think?} and couldn’t help but see a beautiful chic nursery when I saw lavender hues. Maybe it was wistful thinking since I’m completely in boy mode right now. I’ll always be drawn to little girl things! Come see sources and more over at Carissa Miss.

This month’s photo inspired me to create a beautiful, sophisticated baby nursery. In this design, I ignored practicality (and price!) and filled the room with pretty things. You could swap out the crib for a daybed and have a space that will last for years. Add an armoire and shelving and this could be a fun dressing room. The soothing colors in this month’s inspiration picture immediately had me thinking of a spa bathroom. I would paint the walls a soft blue, add lavender and sage touches in the art and bath linens, and bring in some wood and stone to play off all the muted tones. And now I’m obsessed with that free standing tub… Stop by my blog This Sarah Loves for a source list.

I love that sofa, too! Seriously, I think it needs to come live at my house ASAP. Beautiful design board! : )
