A Graphic Light Box and a Mid-Century Dresser: Turning the Kids’ Shared Bedroom into a Boy’s Room

I’ve made a few updates to the kids’ room I made over last Spring. We had them sharing the space for a year or so, but now we’ve moved the wee one into her own room and this room is inhabited solely by our seven-year-old son. It didn’t take much to make it his rather than theirs. The first thing was to move one of the beds out. That wall felt really unbalanced once it was gone, but moving the bookcase… View Post

e-Design: A Vintage-Inspired Boys’ Bedroom

e-Design: A Vintage-Inspired Boys’ Bedroom

A couple of months ago, I did an e-Design for a shared boys’ bedroom. They’re the oldest two (age six and eight) in a family of five children. And again with… View Post

It’s reveal time, friends! My first One Room Challenge makeover is a wrap. Over the past six weeks, I’ve been working on the gender-neutral, shared kids room, turning it into a bright, happy space for my six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter. This was the plan, and I stuck to it pretty closely: We didn’t have much of a budget for this room, so I stuck with mainly things we already owned. The room isn’t big, but it’s lovely and light,… View Post

One Room Challenge Week 5: A Space-Saving Homework Station & Pegboard Toy Storage

Well sheeeit. One more week till the One Room Challenge reveal! Here’s what I’ve been up to so far… Week One (Design & Floor Plan) // Week Two (Wall Decals & Shelves) // Week Three (DIY Upholstered Beds) // Week Four (Fixing & Organizing) This week I finished tackling one of the biggest projects in the kids’ room. If you remember the floor plan, you’ll also remember that the room isn’t terribly large. But, once I’d planned out the space, it became clear… View Post
