Pretty Plants for Clean Air

A lot of my favourite spaces have a common element – plants.  {Via} {Via} They can visually balance a space – every room needs something organic, I think – and the health benefits are a bonus (priorities, people). You’ve all probably read about the NASA clean air study, which tends to be my go-to for choosing house plants – it highlights the plants best at filtering specific toxins from the air. Gaddys Plant Hire has more info on this too.… View Post

Design Collaboration Challenge: Teal & Orange

Design Collaboration Challenge: Teal & Orange

Jane picked out the inspiration palette for this month’s design collaboration – a vibrant combo of teal and orange. Every month, we take the same inspiration photo and each put together a mood board. It’s so fun seeing everyone’s different take on it. This month, apparently there was something in the air, because three of us all decided to create either a patio mood board or an outdoor deck! My Mood Board: An Urban Patio I immediately thought Autumn, but not… View Post

Get the Look: An Eclectic Entryway

Get the Look: An Eclectic Entryway

I have been swooning over Nomad Luxuries’ entryway ever since I spotted it on Pinterest. I want my home to look more like this – it’s just gorgeous! I imagine it’s sourced as eclectically as it looks, but I was able to come up with a similar look from easier-to-find places, and most of it is pretty affordable. Venetian mirror – 1st Dibs // Lamp shade – Target Lamp base – Asda // Chinese planter – Amazon Snakeskin tray – Amazon // Console – Home… View Post

Organizing the Big Boy Room

Organizing the Big Boy Room

When we moved from loft #1 to loft #2, we pretty much transported everything from Sebastian’s bedroom from one place to the other, even down to the paint colour. The new room was a similar size with the same concrete ceilings and pillars, except this one had windows (the first was an enclosed loft room) and hardwood floors. There was one other difference though – I organized the beejesus out of this one. Hurrah. Check out the closet. All the… View Post

As Far As I Got With Our Last Loft Living Room

I never finished our old living room off the way I wanted to, but I did rather like the direction it was going in. When we moved in, there was a rather dominant red wall, complete with huge mismatched patches where the landlord had tried to cover damage left over from the previous tenants. Luckily, we got the go-ahead to paint neutral stripes. I was seriously missing the stripes we had in our previous master bedroom, so it was a… View Post

Mood Board Collective | Black, White & Pink

Mood Board Collective | Black, White & Pink

I picked an inspiration photo for this month’s mood board challenge specifically because it’s a colour combo that I wouldn’t normally choose. Taking this same black, white and pink inspiration image, myself and two other interiors bloggers created different room designs. Emmerson & Fifteenth | Family Room Mood Board I put together a comfy family room design in black, white and soft pink. There’s storage for kids’ toys and a plush velvet sectional for parents to lounge on. Pink can… View Post

Mood Board Collective | Aqua, Salmon & Grey

Mood Board Collective | Aqua, Salmon & Grey

This month’s mood board collective inspiration image is a bright, graphic infinity scarf chosen by Sarah. Using the same salmon, aqua and grey reference image as a starting point, four interiors bloggers have created their own room designs. There are no other parameters, and it’s always fun to see the different directions we all take in our mood boards. Emmerson & Fifteenth | Office Mood Board The colour combo gave me an excuse to design a room around a grey… View Post

Eleanor’s Loft Nursery: Mood Board to Real Room

I love seeing how mood boards and design plans come to fruition, and Eleanor’s loft nursery came a long way from my original design. REVISION 1 I started working on it while I was pregnant, and I was so excited about having a girl. I went all-out girly girl – ruffles included! The fabric had me at hello when I saw it in Emily’s gorgeous nursery. I went through a couple of different variations on the theme, trying to use… View Post
