A Graphic Light Box and a Mid-Century Dresser: Turning the Kids’ Shared Bedroom into a Boy’s Room

I’ve made a few updates to the kids’ room I made over last Spring. We had them sharing the space for a year or so, but now we’ve moved the wee one into her own room and this room is inhabited solely by our seven-year-old son. It didn’t take much to make it his rather than theirs. The first thing was to move one of the beds out. That wall felt really unbalanced once it was gone, but moving the bookcase over there totally fixed the problem. I’ll probably change out… View Post

e-Design: A Vintage-Inspired Boys’ Bedroom

e-Design: A Vintage-Inspired Boys’ Bedroom

A couple of months ago, I did an e-Design for a shared boys’ bedroom. They’re the oldest two (age six and eight) in a family of five children. Their bedroom is big and bright, with a gorgeous fireplace and lovely high ceilings. DIY //I loved the DIY wooden bead shelves that Nadia used in her daughter’s room during the last One Room Challenge. Check out the tutorial here and her equally adorable room makeover here. STYLE // I bought a pair of these slip-on Converse over summer. I am definitely too lazy for laces. I also rather love these blush pink trainers from APL. These very similar gold ones are super cute too. Matching head phones, anyone? FINDS // I’m a sucker for small space solutions, and I love this fold-away desk from from CB2.… View Post

There was so much good stuff that came out of this round of the One Room Challenge, and I’m going to share a few of my faves today. I’ll stick with my top three of the twenty featured designers. I am head over heels for Waiting On Martha’s new team office – I love industrial spaces anyway, and this one is so wonderfully calm, warm and refined – such a lovely juxtaposition… Making It Lovely’s bedroom/den space is just dreamy. And again with the juxtaposition – classic Victorian features with a good dose… View Post

One Room Challenge Week 6: Shared Kids Room Reveal

One Room Challenge Week 6: Shared Kids Room Reveal

It’s reveal time, friends! My first One Room Challenge makeover is a wrap. Over the past six weeks, I’ve been working on the gender-neutral, shared kids room, turning it into a bright, happy space for my six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter. This was the plan, and I stuck to it pretty closely: We didn’t have much of a budget for this room, so I stuck with mainly things we already owned. The room isn’t big, but it’s lovely and light, and the perfectly centered window made the floor plan straightforward: The… View Post
