So Hot Right Now: 2017 Interior Design Trends Report

I spent last Thursday perusing all the pretty things on display at London Design Week. I’ve been asked a few times recently – particularly by friends and family who want help decorating their own spaces – what’s trending in interiors. Now, I’m not saying you have to follow even a single one of these to have an awesome home. Because, you know, you do you. Except I personally love almost all of the interiors trends in this round-up. And whether you want to follow them or not, they’re fun to… View Post

Favorite Things: A New Orleans Family Vacation Rental, A Tiny Home & Ugly Shoes

Travel: A New Orleans Family Vacation Home Our New Orleans family vacation was one of my favourite family holidays ever. We traveled there from Chicago on Amtrak – so fun! The only part of the trip that I might have done differently was our accommodation. We stayed in a hotel in the financial district, which was fine, but didn’t give us a very authentic New Orleans experience. This shotgun rental home, in the city’s Lower Garden District, would definitely have solved that issue. Isn’t it gorgeous? This New Orleans family vacation… View Post

Mood Board: Industrial Inspiration for an NYC Apartment Design

I would very happily live in the imaginary home featured in today’s design plan. It’s a mood board for an NYC apartment design that I put together as part of an application to design school (!!!) It features lots of the industrial details I love combined with organic elements and a refined colour palette with on-trend accents of deep green. The client Male, early 30s, single, fabulous. Works in fashion PR in New York City. Loves to entertain. The brief Give character & style to a generic new-build 5th floor studio apartment… View Post

A Graphic Light Box and a Mid-Century Dresser: Turning the Kids’ Shared Bedroom into a Boy’s Room

I’ve made a few updates to the kids’ room I made over last Spring. We had them sharing the space for a year or so, but now we’ve moved the wee one into her own room and this room is inhabited solely by our seven-year-old son. It didn’t take much to make it his rather than theirs. The first thing was to move one of the beds out. That wall felt really unbalanced once it was gone, but moving the bookcase over there totally fixed the problem. I’ll probably change out… View Post

Favourite Things: Love Your Home

You may remember me raving about how much I love the sofa we bought over summer. It’s the Clementine Chesterfield Sofa Bed from Love Your Home, and I genuinely have nothing but love for it. So much so that I recommended another one of their Chesterfields – the Charlotte – to a recent e-Design client. My love for this company doesn’t end with sofas, though, although they do do sofas – and chairs, and chaise longues – very well. Sofas & Other Upholstered Seating Tallulah Chaise I mean, just really. So pretty.… View Post
