Alder Road Project | Side Return Extension & Renovation Plans, Mortlake

Last year, we wrapped up renovations on a ground floor maisonette flat in Mortlake SW14. Previously a two-bed, two-bath home, we built a side return extension, transforming the living space and adding an additional office/guest room, en suite half bath, and walk-in pantry. We also renovated the two existing bathrooms and the entrance hallway. We didn’t engage a separate architect for this project, opting to design the extension in-house under the guidance of the structural engineer. The planning application was…

Modern Kitchen Extension, East Sheen

Modern Kitchen Extension, East Sheen

This kitchen, dining and living area extension is part of a large residential renovation project in East Sheen, Southwest London. Previously, a smaller, outdated extension held a kitchen and dining area that didn’t suit the scale of the rest of the house. We replaced it with a much larger and more functional extension which added a cosy living space, and a larger kitchen and dining area, along with a pantry, guest bathroom, and utility room. The Brief When I got…

Design Inspo | Sweetpea & Willow

I was invited to visit Sweetpea & Willow‘s Isleworth showroom a couple of weeks ago. It’s packed with lovely things, and heavy on the glam. There was a lot to like, including stunning floral arrangements by Stems and Bows. This event was where I spotted a bed wwoon-worthy enough to inspire a whole mood board. Look at those legs! And I always love textured bedding. It wasn’t the only gorgeous bed there. Sweetpea & Willow do seating just as fabulous…

Summer Home Tour

Summer Home Tour

Today I’m taking you on a summer tour of my home. I live in a rented three-bed terrace in Mortlake, South West London. I design interiors in an eclectic mix of styles, but have focused on a combination of global, mid-century and industrial design features in this 90s-built house. The Dining Area The dining area is at one end of a long living room, which is also my husband’s office. Because the room serves so many functions, I keep the styling…

Low-Key Christmas Decorating

Low-Key Christmas Decorating

I like to keep it simple when it comes to Christmas decorating. I use the same decorations every year, and generally only add to them when I can shop the sales after Christmas. Tree decorating is a whole family affair, so ours is full of cardboard and craft paper creations. It’s even got tinsel on it, at the kids’ request. There are bits with loads of baubles clumped together and other bits that are rather sparse, and the beads are…

Design Inspo | One Room Challenge Room Makeovers

There were so many amazing room makeovers that came out of the Spring 2016 One Room Challenge. I worked on a bright, gender-neutral bedroom for my kids, but here are a few of my favourites from the other designers. Featured Designers I’ll stick with my top three of the twenty featured designers. I am head over heels for Waiting On Martha’s new team office – I love industrial spaces anyway, and this one is so wonderfully calm, warm and refined – such…

Mood Board | Design Plans for a Long Living/…

Mood Board | Design Plans for a Long Living/Dining Room

I’ve just been granted clearance to buy a fancy Chesterfield, and I want to nail down the design plans for my dining/living room quick in case the hubs changes his mind. It’s a multifunctional space, with a study area thrown in for good measure, and, as usual, I’m blending an eclectic mix of design styles. The living/dining room is long and narrow, which makes for a bit of a design challenge, especially with so much to fit in. We need…

Mood Board Collective | Coral, Navy & Gold

I’m part of a Mood Board Collective, where several interiors bloggers take the same inspiration image and use it to create a mood board. This month, I chose the inspiration image; a navy, coral and gold colour scheme that I used to create an industrial dining room. It’s spawned some gorgeous room designs from the other guys too. Emmerson & Fifteenth | Glam Industrial Dining Room Mood Board I love what everyone came up with month. For my mood board,…

Mood Board Collective | Tangerine Orange & Mint

I’m joining a group of interiors bloggers this month for a recurring mood board design challenge. Each go, one of us picks an inspiration photo as a starting point for a mood board. There are no other parameters – the design can go anywhere. Today’s mood board inspiration image has a bright colour palette of tangerine orange and mint. Emmerson & Fifteenth | Office Mood Board I created a feminine office space using an eclectic mix of styles, with a…
