Design Inspo | English Cottage Home Tour

My parents just put their lovely little English cottage on the market, and it’s rather gorgeous. It’s an 18th century house very close to Salisbury city center and the cathedral.

It’s a four bedroom cottage; about 1400 square feet spread over three floors. I imagine it started as a smaller house – just the front half – and has been extended out the back to add what is now the kitchen and master bedroom. The loft has been converted to house a fourth bedroom and a bathroom.

You enter this charming English cottage straight into the living room. It’s bright with feature beams, lots of lovely built-ins, and two fireplaces (the other one is back left, off camera).

They kept the colour palette neutral with pops of pink and blue. The furniture is traditional but fresh, and suits the house perfectly.

A doorway leads to a dining area with a built in bench, and then on to the kitchen.

There are double doors off the kitchen to a little courtyard with a bistro table.

Steps lead up to the rest of the pretty English cottage courtyard garden, with a bigger dining area towards the back.

Back in the house, the bedroom we stay in when we visit has a gorgeous exposed brick wall and another sweet little fireplace.

There’s a Jack and Jill bathroom connecting to the landing and the master.

The cosy master bedroom fits with the rest of the English cottage style, and overlooks the garden.

There’s another bedroom/office on the middle floor but I don’t have a photo of that one. Then up on the top floor, in the eaves, is one more bedroom and a big bathroom with a lovely claw foot tub.

It’s a lovely little house, and Salisbury is such a nice city to visit. We’ll miss it when it sells!
